Thomas Holbrook II | The Freedomware Project
In light of questions pertaining to the difference between freedomware and free and open source software, I have put together a slide show using OpenOffice.org. The assumption here is that certain pieces of knowledge, such as the four freedoms (FSF) and how open source originated are already known by anyone wanting to use the slide show to do a presentation.
Viewing the slide show will require OpenOffice.org or application that is compatible with the ODF standard. Just click the link below to download the ODP file. I hope everyone finds it to be useful.
Update: For those wondering why it is in ODF only, there is a good reason. PowerPoint is a proprietary format, and as such, I am not going to force it on other people at this time. I only utilized YouTube due to my inexperience with posting OGG video files on the web and having them play. Those who do not care for being “limited” to one format only will hopefully know how it feels when a proprietary software company causes lock-in to a proprietary format. If you are wanting to view the file in question and can’t install OpenOffice.org (due to the machine being locked down), not to worry! PortableApps is an excellent solution for running many applications on an external drive, such as a USB drive. They have a portable edition of OpenOffice.org, which will allow you to view the document in question.
Heh, I’m stuck at work with Microsoft Office, I can’t read your file. As much as it sucks, complete freedom has it’s restrictions.
